"75" Years, Remembering Your First Daffodil Parade". Orting’s float entry, “Garden Gala”, flashes back to remind us of how this very parade originated. In the early 1900’s, Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Orton hosted a garden party, where guests could view varieties of daffodils planted around their Sumner estate. With the daffodil infused Arbor, the scene is set for a garden party of our very own. Orting’s daffodil princesses, in their vintage style dresses, venture beside a winding rock path, portraying some of the many guests who had browsed throughout this garden while enjoying many of springtime’s beautiful blooms… Miss Tessa Grossnickle to Represent Orting High School as Daffodil Princess (Will be on Queens Float)Princess on the Orting FloatMegan Aksamit

The Orting Pumpkin Fest was a great success this past weekend with sunny weather and a healthy turnout. The Chamber of Commerce hosted a booth with member business information and a Pumpkin Putt fundraiser with prizes contributed by the Lions Club. They also sold daffodil bulbs to help raise funds for the Orting Daffodil float. Executive Director Rhonda Madison staffed the booth and member volunteers included Steve Rodrigues of Baxter-Hobart, Krista Butler of Metlife Home Loans, Debbie Klingenberg of Traditional Moments Event Planning and Pam Giles of Liquid Assets Accounting. The Great Pumpkins photo board was painted by local artist OCC member Madeline Jones.
